A quick and easy campfire dessert featuring ripe bananas stuffed with melty chocolate and toasted marshmallows, perfect for cozy gatherings and nostalgic moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1/4 cup milk or dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows or regular marshmallows cut into smaller pieces
  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Optional add-ins: chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts), shredded coconut, cinnamon, nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bananas (5 minutes): Slice each banana lengthwise down the middle, making a pocket without cutting all the way through.
  2. Stuff the Bananas (3 minutes): Open the banana pocket and stuff with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Add optional extras like nuts or cinnamon if desired.
  3. Wrap in Foil (2 minutes): Wrap each stuffed banana tightly in aluminum foil, sealing all edges well.
  4. Cook Over Campfire or Oven (8-12 minutes): Place foil packets near hot embers or on a grill rack. Cook for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally. If using an oven, bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
  5. Check and Serve (1 minute): Carefully unwrap the foil and check that chocolate is melted and marshmallows toasted. Reheat if necessary.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas to hold shape. Do not overfill to avoid leakage. Double-wrap foil if worried about tears. Cook over hot embers rather than open flames for even cooking. Handle foil packets carefully to avoid burns. For vegan or dairy-free versions, use appropriate chocolate and marshmallows. Optional add-ins like nuts or cinnamon add flavor and texture. Can be baked in oven or grilled if no campfire is available.
