Quick and easy crispy salmon bites cooked in an air fryer, served with a sweet and spicy honey butter sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh salmon, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs (Japanese recommended)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: Fresh chopped parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the salmon cubes gently and pat dry with paper towels. (5 minutes)
  2. In a medium bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the salmon bites in the seasoning mix until evenly coated. (3 minutes)
  3. Set up a dredging station: one bowl with the beaten egg, another with the panko breadcrumbs. Dip each salmon cube into the egg, letting excess drip off, then roll in the panko until fully coated. Place coated bites on a plate. (7-10 minutes)
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Arrange the coated bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space for air circulation. Cook for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even browning. (8 minutes)
  6. While the salmon cooks, whisk together softened butter, honey, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt until smooth. (5 minutes)
  7. Once cooked, transfer the salmon bites to a serving dish. Drizzle the spicy honey butter over top or serve on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired. (2 minutes)

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed to keep bites crispy. Pat salmon dry before coating to ensure crispiness. Adjust cayenne pepper to control spice level. For gluten-free, substitute panko with almond flour or crushed gluten-free crackers. Reheat leftovers in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
