A quick and easy homemade trail mix combining dark chocolate chunks, nuts, seeds, and optional dried fruit for a healthy, satisfying snack perfect for on-the-go or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Dark chocolate chunks (70% cocoa or higher)
  • Raw almonds
  • Raw cashews
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
  • Dried cranberries or raisins (optional)
  • Sea salt (pinch)
  • Ground cinnamon (optional, 1/4 teaspoon)
  • Coconut flakes (unsweetened, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds evenly on a rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, stirring or shaking halfway through to ensure even roasting.
  4. Remove the nuts and seeds from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled nuts and seeds with the dark chocolate chunks, dried cranberries (if using), and coconut flakes.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the mixture and add 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon if desired.
  7. Mix gently but thoroughly with a spatula to distribute everything evenly without breaking the chocolate chunks.
  8. Transfer the trail mix to an airtight container. Enjoy immediately or let rest for a few hours to meld flavors.

Notes

Ensure nuts and seeds are fully cooled before mixing with chocolate to prevent melting. Use high-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher) for best flavor and melt resistance. Toast nuts carefully to avoid burning. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months.
