  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk (dairy or plant-based, e.g., almond milk)
  • 12 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup (30g) chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds)
  • 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and finely grate one large apple using a fine grater (about 5 minutes).
  2. Toss the grated apple with 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice in a mixing bowl to prevent browning.
  3. Add 1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, and 1/2 cup milk to the bowl and stir gently to combine until creamy.
  4. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (if using) until smooth.
  5. Fold in 1/4 cup chopped nuts and 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries (optional).
  6. Spoon the mixture into glass jars or airtight containers and cover tightly (about 2 minutes).
  7. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow oats to soak and flavors to meld.
  8. In the morning, stir the muesli once, top with fresh fruit if desired, and enjoy cold or let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes if preferred.

Notes

Use rolled oats for best texture; avoid instant oats to prevent mushiness. Grate apple finely for smooth texture. Adjust sweetness after soaking if needed. Prepare multiple jars ahead for convenience. Store in fridge up to 3 days. Stir in a splash of milk if too thick in the morning.
