These cinnamon sugar baked apple chips are perfectly crispy, naturally sweet, and incredibly easy to make with just four ingredients. A healthy, budget-friendly snack that beats store-bought every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large firm apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C).
  2. Wash the apples thoroughly. Leave the skin on for extra color and fiber, or peel if desired. Core the apples using an apple corer or by cutting into quarters and removing the core with a knife.
  3. Using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife, slice the apples crosswise into rounds about 1/8-inch thick. Try to keep them as even as possible.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Stir until evenly mixed.
  5. Lay the apple slices in a single layer on parchment-lined baking sheets. Brush each slice lightly with melted coconut oil or butter. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the tops.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes. The apples should look slightly dried and the edges will start to curl.
  7. Carefully flip each slice using a spatula. Reduce the oven temperature to 200°F (95°C). Bake for another 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on thickness.
  8. Check for doneness: the chips should be dry to the touch and slightly firm. They will crisp up as they cool.
  9. Transfer the chips to a cooling rack and let them cool completely for at least 30 minutes. Do not skip this step.

Notes

For best results, slice apples evenly and do not overcrowd the pan. The low temperature is key to achieving a crispy texture. Store in an airtight container with a silica gel packet to maintain crunchiness for up to a week. If chips soften, re-crisp in a 200°F oven for 10-15 minutes.
