Quick and fun mummy hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough with melty cheese eyes, perfect for Halloween weeknights or any fun dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size, not jumbo)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Ketchup or mustard for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Prepare the cheese eyes: Lay the 4 slices of cheddar cheese flat on a cutting board. Using a small round cutter or bottle cap, cut out 16 tiny circles (2 per mummy). Set aside in a small bowl.
  3. Cut the crescent roll dough: Unroll the dough onto the cutting board. If perforated into triangles, press the seams together gently to create a solid sheet. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into 8 long strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Wrap the hot dogs: Take one hot dog and place it at the end of one dough strip. Start wrapping the dough around the hot dog at a slight angle, overlapping slightly as you go, like bandaging a tiny mummy. Leave a small gap at the top (about 1/2 inch) for the face. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Place on the baking sheet: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each one.
  6. Add the cheese eyes: Take two tiny cheese circles and press them gently onto the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy. Press them in just enough so they stick.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake until the dough is golden brown and the cheese eyes are melted and slightly bubbly. Start checking at 12 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly and serve: Remove from the oven and let the mummy hot dogs cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a serving plate and serve warm with ketchup or mustard for dipping.

Notes

For best results, use all-beef hot dogs and full-fat crescent roll dough. Leave a small gap at the top for the cheese eyes. If dough becomes sticky, refrigerate for 5 minutes. Cheese eyes can be made with mozzarella, provolone, or pepper jack.
