Best Quick Mummy Hot Dogs Crescent Roll Recipe

mummy hot dogs crescent roll recipe - featured image

These quick mummy hot dogs are a fun and easy Halloween dinner that kids love. Made with crescent roll dough, hot dogs, and mustard eyes, they’re ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 8 hot dogs (beef or turkey)
  • Mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing baking sheet, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the perforated lines. Place them on a clean cutting board or countertop. If the dough feels too cold and stiff, let it sit at room temperature for 5 minutes.
  3. Cut each triangle into thin strips lengthwise using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Aim for 3-4 strips per triangle.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips starting at one end. Leave a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Overlap the strips slightly as you go, but keep them loose enough that you can see the hot dog peeking through.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  8. Add the mustard eyes by dabbing small dots of mustard onto the exposed hot dog at the top. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife for precision.
  9. Serve immediately while they’re warm and the dough is still crispy.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat crescent roll dough. If dough strips tear, press them back together—the heat will seal them during baking. To restore crispiness to leftovers, reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes.
