A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spider web design made from sour cream. Perfect for Halloween parties, game days, or any gathering where you want to impress with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (full-fat, for spider web)
  • 1–2 black olive slices (for spider decoration)
  • Tortilla chips (scoop-style, for serving)
  • Celery sticks (for serving)
  • Carrot sticks (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Fold in the shredded chicken until evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges. For extra browning, broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully.
  7. While the dip bakes, prepare the sour cream spider web. Spoon sour cream into a piping bag or zip-top bag. If using a zip-top bag, snip off a tiny corner (about 1/8 inch wide).
  8. Once the dip comes out of the oven, let it cool for 2-3 minutes to stabilize the surface.
  9. Pipe a small circle of sour cream in the center of the dip. Then pipe concentric circles around it, spaced about 1 inch apart, until you reach the edge of the dish (4-5 circles total).
  10. Using a toothpick or fork, gently drag outward from the center through the sour cream circles to the edge of the dish, creating web lines. Space lines about 1 inch apart. Wipe the toothpick clean between each line.
  11. Place an olive slice or plastic spider ring in the center of the web for the spider.
  12. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and carrot sticks.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream. Let the dip cool for 2-3 minutes before piping the sour cream web to prevent melting. Can be assembled (without sour cream web) up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
