A thick, creamy smoothie bowl that tastes like childhood comfort with 20 grams of protein. Ready in just five minutes with simple ingredients for a quick, nourishing breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana (ripe with spots, peeled and frozen overnight)
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (natural, no-stir preferred)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (about 25–30 grams)
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (unsweetened almond, oat, or regular milk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon granola (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (for topping)
  • Sliced banana or berries (for topping)
  • Drizzle of extra peanut butter (for topping)
  • Dark chocolate shavings (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your banana: If not frozen, peel, slice into coins, and freeze on a parchment-lined baking sheet for at least 2 hours (overnight is better). Use one large frozen banana (about 1 cup of slices).
  2. Add ingredients to blender: Start with 1/2 cup milk, then add frozen banana slices, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Blend until smooth: Start on low for 10 seconds, then increase to medium-high. If too thick, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time. If too thin, add ice cubes or another frozen banana slice. Aim for soft-serve ice cream consistency.
  4. Scrape and check: Stop blender, scrape down sides with a rubber spatula, and blend again. Taste and adjust sweetness or peanut butter flavor as needed.
  5. Pour into bowl: Use spatula to get every last bit out. Smooth the top with a spoon.
  6. Add toppings: Arrange granola, chia seeds, fresh fruit, peanut butter drizzle, and chocolate shavings as desired.
  7. Serve immediately: Eat within 5 minutes while still thick and cold.

Notes

Frozen banana is essential for thick texture—do not substitute with fresh. Vanilla extract is the secret ingredient that makes it taste bakery-fresh. Start with less liquid and add more as needed. Do not over-blend as it warms the smoothie and thins it out. For best results, use spotty ripe bananas and freeze them sliced in a single layer.
