A simple, buttery baked salmon with a bright lemon dill sauce that comes together in under 30 minutes. Perfect for cozy nights when you need a comforting, healthy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: extra fresh dill, lemon slices, flaky sea salt for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let the salmon sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped dill, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Line a 9×13 baking dish with aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving enough overhang to cover the salmon later.
  4. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the dish, spacing them slightly apart.
  5. Pour the lemon dill butter sauce evenly over each fillet, using a spoon or brush to coat all pieces.
  6. Optional: place a thin slice of lemon on top of each fillet.
  7. Cover the dish with foil or a lid and bake for 12 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake for another 5-8 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 125-130°F for medium.
  9. Let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Spoon the pan sauce over the fillets before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh dill and fresh lemon juice. Pat salmon dry before adding sauce. Let salmon rest at room temperature for 10 minutes before baking. If fillets are thicker than 1 inch, add 2-3 minutes to covered baking time. For dairy-free, substitute with vegan butter or ghee. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
