A quick and healthy snack made with just peanut butter, rolled oats, and honey. These energy balls are easy to prepare, nutritious, and perfect for on-the-go snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) peanut butter (creamy or natural)
  • 1 cup (90 grams) rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup (240 ml) peanut butter, 1 cup (90 grams) rolled oats, and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and honey. Stir until well combined and glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the rolled oats to the peanut butter and honey mixture. Stir gently to combine, about 2-3 minutes. If mixture is too sticky, refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  4. Test the consistency by pinching a small amount and rolling into a ball. Adjust by adding more peanut butter or honey if crumbly, or more oats if too sticky.
  5. Roll the mixture into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls, about 12-15 balls. This takes 5-7 minutes.
  6. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to firm up.
  7. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

Use natural peanut butter without added sugar or oils for a cleaner taste. Old-fashioned rolled oats are preferred for texture. If mixture is too sticky, chill before rolling. Lightly oil hands to prevent sticking. Store refrigerated to maintain texture. Optional add-ins include chocolate chips, cinnamon, or protein powder. For vegan option, replace honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
