These adorable mummy hot dog crescent rolls are a quick, easy, and festive Halloween snack that kids and adults love. Made with simple ingredients, they combine flaky crescent dough wrapped around hot dogs with mustard eyes for a fun spooky treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular-sized hot dogs (about 78 inches long), all-beef preferred or turkey/plant-based alternatives
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard for the eyes
  • Optional: thin slices of cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Non-stick cooking spray for greasing the baking sheet
  • Optional: black sesame seeds or peppercorns as alternative eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Slice the dough into very thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Wrap each hot dog loosely with the crescent dough strips, leaving a small gap near the ‘head’ for the eyes. Overlap strips slightly to create a bandaged mummy look.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet. Use a toothpick or spoon tip to apply two tiny dots of yellow mustard near the exposed part for eyes, or use black sesame seeds or peppercorns as alternatives.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  6. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before transferring to a serving plate. Serve warm.

Notes

Let crescent dough sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before cutting to prevent tearing. Cut dough into thin strips for crispiness. Wrap dough loosely to allow rising and avoid doughy spots. Apply mustard eyes just before baking to prevent spreading. You can prepare wrapped hot dogs ahead and refrigerate for up to an hour before baking, adding extra baking time if cold. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 2 days and reheat best in the oven.
