Tender, sticky-sweet honey garlic chicken made with just 4 ingredients in the slow cooker. This set-it-and-forget-it dinner is perfect for busy nights and tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4–5 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Sliced green onions (optional garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
  • Fresh lime juice (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup honey, 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce, and 4-5 minced garlic cloves until smooth.
  2. Place 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken thighs in the bottom of the slow cooker in a single layer.
  3. Pour the honey garlic mixture evenly over the chicken thighs, coating each piece.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or on HIGH for 2.5-3 hours, until chicken is fork-tender.
  5. Remove chicken and shred with two forks, or serve whole.
  6. For a thicker sauce, pour the cooking liquid into a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until reduced.
  7. Pour thickened sauce over chicken, garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and lime juice if desired. Serve over rice or vegetables.

Notes

Do not lift the lid during the first 3 hours of cooking. Pat chicken dry before adding to prevent watery sauce. For gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. Leftovers keep for up to 4 days in the refrigerator or 3 months in the freezer.
