  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (20 g)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (15 g)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (5 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (1 g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (1 g) – optional
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley) for garnish – optional

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breast dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Wait until the oil shimmers but does not smoke.
  3. Place the chicken breast flat in the skillet and sear without moving for 4-5 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms.
  4. Flip the chicken using tongs and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
  5. While the chicken cooks, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a small bowl until smooth.
  6. Brush the honey mustard glaze evenly over the chicken breast during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Let it bubble and caramelize slightly, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Check for doneness by ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) or the chicken feels firm with a slight give.
  8. Remove the chicken from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes to seal in the juices.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately.
