A spooky, delicious, and easy-to-make Halloween punch that combines blackberries, oranges, and apple juice with a splash of sparkling water. Perfect for kids’ parties or family gatherings, this drink captures the magic of the season without any fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries (about 12 ounces)
  • 2 large navel oranges
  • 4 cups apple juice (32 ounces)
  • 2 cups sparkling water (16 ounces)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill pitcher halfway)
  • Plastic spider rings, orange slices, or extra blackberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the blackberries in a colander or small bowl with cool water. Gently shake off excess water and remove any stems or leaves. Pat dry with a paper towel if desired.
  2. Slice one orange into thin rounds, about ¼-inch thick (8 to 10 slices). Cut the other orange in half and juice it to get about ¼ cup of fresh orange juice.
  3. Layer the fruit in a large 2-quart (64-ounce) pitcher: add half the blackberries, then half the orange slices, then repeat with the remaining blackberries and orange slices.
  4. Pour in the 4 cups of apple juice. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or long-handled spatula to coat the fruit.
  5. If using, add 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup and stir until dissolved. Taste and add another tablespoon if desired.
  6. Chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (up to 4 hours for deeper flavor).
  7. Just before serving, remove the pitcher from the fridge. Add the 2 cups of cold sparkling water and stir gently. Add enough ice cubes to fill the pitcher about halfway and stir once more.
  8. Pour into glasses (clear cups recommended). Garnish each glass with a few blackberries, an orange slice, and a plastic spider ring on the rim if desired.

Notes

For best results, use cold ingredients and don’t add sparkling water too early to keep the fizz. The drink can be stored without ice and sparkling water for up to 48 hours in the fridge. For an adult version, add 1 cup of white rum or vodka before chilling.
