These adorable Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with just hot dogs, crescent rolls, and mustard. Perfect for last-minute parties, they’re always the first to disappear.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) crescent rolls (Pillsbury Original recommended)
  • 1 package (8-count) hot dogs (Hebrew National or all-beef recommended)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard (for dip)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Pinch of garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Pinch perforated seams together on each triangle.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 thin strips (24 strips total).
  4. Take one hot dog and wrap a strip of dough around it at a slight angle, leaving a 1-inch (2.5 cm) gap at the top for the face. Do not wrap too tightly.
  5. Continue wrapping with 2-3 strips per hot dog, overlapping slightly to look like bandages.
  6. Place wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  7. Optional: Brush dough with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed.
  9. While baking, make dipping sauce: In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons mustard, honey, and garlic powder until smooth.
  10. Let mummy pigs cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes.
  11. Transfer mustard to a small piping bag or zip-top bag with corner snipped. Pipe two small dots of mustard onto exposed hot dog ‘face’ for eyes.
  12. Serve immediately with cream cheese mustard dip.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough for flakiness. Leave enough face space (at least 1 inch). Use room temperature hot dogs for even heating. Pipe mustard after baking to prevent burning. Make dip ahead for better flavor. Double the batch for parties.
