Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz brie or camembert
  • 4 oz aged cheddar or gouda
  • 2 oz gorgonzola or roquefort (optional)
  • 4–6 thin slices prosciutto
  • 4 oz genoa salami, sliced
  • 2 oz soppressata (optional)
  • 1 cup assorted crackers (water crackers, rosemary crackers, or baguette slices)
  • 1/4 cup almonds or walnuts
  • 1/4 cup mixed olives (castelvetrano preferred)
  • 1/4 cup cornichons
  • 1/4 cup dried apricots or figs
  • 1/2 cup grapes or sliced apple
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam or onion chutney
  • 1 oz dark chocolate, broken into pieces (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme (optional)
  • Edible flowers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving.
  2. Choose your board or platter and place it on your counter. Clean and dry it. If using a wooden board, rub with a cut lemon to keep it fresh.
  3. Place the cheese first, positioning them on opposite sides of the board. Slice the hard cheese into thin wedges or cubes.
  4. Add the meats. Fold or roll each slice of prosciutto into loose ribbons. For salami, create small salami roses by overlapping 4-5 slices, rolling them up, and pulling the edges out gently. Place them near the cheeses.
  5. Fill in with accompaniments. Add small bowls or ramekins for olives, honey, and jam. Scatter nuts, dried fruit, and cornichons in the gaps.
  6. Add fresh fruit and crackers. Arrange grapes in small clusters. Fan out apple slices near the brie. Place crackers in a few different spots around the board.
  7. Drizzle honey over the brie or into a small bowl. Sprinkle fresh herbs over the board. If using edible flowers, tuck them in around the edges.
  8. Step back and adjust. Look at your board from above. Fill any empty spots with extra nuts, crackers, or berries.

Notes

Take cheese out of fridge 30 minutes before serving. Don’t overcrowd the board. Always have more crackers than you think you need. Prep everything before arranging.
