These layered jello shots feature vibrant red, white, and blue layers with distinct flavors, perfect for festive occasions like Fourth of July or New Year’s Eve. Easy to make and visually stunning, they bring a playful twist to classic party treats.

Ingredients

  • Red Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) red fruit juice (cranberry or cherry), 1 packet (7 g) unflavored gelatin powder, 1/4 cup (60 ml) vodka or rum, 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar (optional)
  • White Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk, 1 packet (7 g) unflavored gelatin powder, 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) blue fruit juice (blueberry or blue raspberry), 1 packet (7 g) unflavored gelatin powder, 1/4 cup (60 ml) vodka or rum, 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red layer: Sprinkle 1 packet (7 g) gelatin over 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold red fruit juice and let bloom for 5 minutes. Heat gently while stirring until dissolved (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in remaining 3/4 cup (180 ml) red juice, vodka, and sugar until combined.
  2. Pour the red layer into shot glasses, filling about one-third of each cup. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  3. Prepare the white layer: Sprinkle 1 packet gelatin over 1/2 cup (120 ml) water and let sit for 5 minutes. Heat gently until dissolved. Stir in sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  4. Gently spoon or pour the white layer over the set red layer. Chill for 20-30 minutes until firm.
  5. Prepare the blue layer: Bloom gelatin in 1/4 cup (60 ml) blue juice, dissolve over heat, then mix with remaining juice, vodka, and sugar.
  6. Carefully add the blue layer on top of the white layer. Chill for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
  7. Serve chilled, garnished with a small fresh berry or mint leaf.

Notes

Bloom gelatin properly to avoid lumps. Chill each layer until firm but tacky before adding the next to prevent mixing. Pour layers slowly from a low height. For non-alcoholic versions, substitute liquor with additional juice or sparkling water. Sweetened condensed milk can be swapped with coconut milk for dairy-free option. Store leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator up to 3 days. Avoid freezing to maintain texture.
