A healthier twist on classic taco dip, featuring a creamy cottage cheese base, lean ground turkey, and a fun spiderweb design. Perfect for Halloween, game day, or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey (93/7)
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles
  • 1 cup full-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or full-fat)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa verde or red salsa
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (or more blended cottage cheese)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes, until no longer pink.
  3. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the cooked turkey and add 1/4 cup of water. Stir well and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Stir in the drained black beans and diced green chiles. Cook for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. In a blender, combine cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth.
  6. Spread the turkey-bean mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie dish.
  7. Pour the blended cottage cheese mixture over the meat layer and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle shredded Mexican blend cheese over the creamy layer, then dollop salsa on top and gently spread.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Spoon sour cream into a piping bag or zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe concentric circles on top. Use a toothpick to drag lines from the center outward to create a spiderweb pattern.
  11. Sprinkle sliced black olives, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño slices (if using) around the edges.
  12. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Don’t skip blending the cottage cheese for a smooth texture. Let the meat cool slightly before adding the creamy layer to prevent separation. Use a light hand with salsa to avoid a watery dip. Make the spiderweb design right before serving for best visual effect.
