A lighter, savory twist on classic Chex Mix featuring ranch seasoning and rosemary. This accidental recipe is quick, easy, and perfect for snacking, game days, or holiday parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups mini pretzels
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (unsalted or lightly salted)
  • 1 cup cheese crackers (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine Corn Chex, Rice Chex, mini pretzels, mixed nuts, and cheese crackers (if using). Toss to distribute evenly.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together ranch seasoning, dried rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne (if using), and salt.
  4. In another small bowl, whisk egg whites until frothy and slightly bubbly (about 30 seconds).
  5. Drizzle olive oil over the cereal mixture and toss gently to coat.
  6. Pour frothy egg whites over the cereal mixture and toss again to lightly coat.
  7. Sprinkle seasoning mixture over the cereal and toss one more time, using a gentle folding motion.
  8. Spread mixture evenly across the two prepared baking sheets in a single layer.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes with a spatula.
  10. After 30 minutes, turn off the oven and leave the mix inside with the door slightly ajar for 15-20 minutes.
  11. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheets.
  12. Once completely cool, transfer to an airtight container.

Notes

Don’t skip the egg whites—they create a light, crispy coating. Crush rosemary before adding to release oils. Bake low and slow at 250°F for best crunch. Stir every 10 minutes for even baking. Let cool completely before storing to maintain crunchiness. Flavor deepens after a day or two.
