A creamy, tangy, and spicy buffalo chicken dip made lighter with Greek yogurt, reduced-fat cream cheese, and blended cottage cheese. Perfect for game day parties, potlucks, or any gathering where you want to indulge without the guilt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 3 medium breasts)
  • 8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or full-fat)
  • ½ cup low-fat cottage cheese, blended until smooth
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Celery sticks and carrot sticks (for serving)
  • Whole grain crackers or tortilla chips (for serving)
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Blend the cottage cheese in a small blender or food processor until completely smooth, about 30 seconds. Set aside.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in an even layer at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, blended cottage cheese, buffalo wing sauce, dry ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Do not stir.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Remove the chicken breasts from the slow cooker and shred with two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken mixture and add the butter. Stir until the cheese is melted and the butter is incorporated.
  8. Cover and cook on LOW for another 15 to 20 minutes, until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges. Stir once more.
  9. Garnish with fresh chopped chives or green onions. Serve directly from the slow cooker on the warm setting with celery sticks, carrot sticks, whole grain crackers, or tortilla chips.

Notes

For the smoothest dip, ensure cream cheese is truly softened. Do not skip blending the cottage cheese to avoid curds. Cook on LOW only to prevent graininess. Taste before adding extra salt as the buffalo sauce, ranch mix, and cheese provide plenty of sodium. Keep dip on WARM setting after cooking to avoid overcooking. Stir occasionally if serving for a while to prevent a skin from forming.
