A lighter, healthier twist on classic buffalo chicken dip with a fun Halloween spider web design. Creamy, tangy, and packed with protein, this easy dip is perfect for parties and game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cottage cheese, small-curd
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup buffalo hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt or light sour cream (for spider web topping)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for spider web topping)
  • Small black olives, sliced (for spiders)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take cream cheese out of the fridge to soften.
  2. Blend the cottage cheese in a food processor or blender for about 30 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
  3. In a large bowl, combine blended cottage cheese, softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, buffalo hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  4. Fold in shredded chicken, shredded cheddar, and crumbled blue cheese (if using) until evenly distributed.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes until hot and bubbly around the edges. Optionally, broil for 1-2 minutes for a golden top.
  7. While the dip bakes, mix the topping yogurt with milk in a small bowl until thin enough to pipe. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag and snip a small tip off the corner.
  8. Let the dip cool for 2-3 minutes after baking. Pipe a small circle in the center, then concentric circles around it, spaced about an inch apart. Use a toothpick to drag outward from the center through all circles to create a web effect. Wipe the toothpick clean between each drag.
  9. Place sliced black olives on the web to resemble spiders.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese, Greek-style coconut yogurt, and dairy-free cheddar. To make it vegetarian, swap chicken for chickpeas or roasted cauliflower. The dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance (without topping) and refrigerated; add 5-10 minutes to baking time. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 10-15 minutes or microwave in 30-second bursts. Do not freeze.
