A spooky and delicious Halloween dessert featuring layers of fudgy brownies, coffee-infused whipped cream, and crushed Oreos mimicking a haunted graveyard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch of brownies (about 9×9-inch pan, 810 pieces) – homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, chilled
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 1 cup Oreo cookies, crushed (leave some chunks for tombstones)
  • Gummy worms or candy bones (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownies: Bake your favorite brownie recipe in a 9×9-inch pan or use store-bought brownies. Let them cool completely (about 30-40 minutes if baking). Cut into 1-inch bite-sized cubes.
  2. Whip the cream: In a chilled bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cooled coffee. Whip with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form (3-5 minutes).
  3. Crush the Oreos: Place Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush gently, leaving some chunks for tombstones.
  4. Layer the trifle: Spread one-third of the brownie cubes evenly at the bottom of a trifle bowl. Add a generous layer of whipped cream over the brownies. Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top.
  5. Repeat layers: Repeat with remaining brownies, cream, and crushed Oreos until the bowl is full, finishing with a thick layer of whipped cream.
  6. Add graveyard decorations: Arrange reserved Oreo chunks vertically on top as tombstones. Scatter gummy worms, candy bones, or chocolate shavings around for extra spooky effect.
  7. Chill before serving: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours or overnight to let flavors meld and cream set.

Notes

Use fudgy brownies with slightly crispy edges for best texture. Chill bowl and beaters before whipping cream. Use cooled coffee to avoid melting cream. Layer gently to keep brownie chunks intact. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor and texture. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator up to 3 days. Dairy-free and gluten-free substitutions available.
