Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 2 cups (480 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red gelatin (strawberry or cherry flavor)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka or rum (or water/juice for non-alcoholic)
  • White Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water or milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka or rum (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 2 cups (480 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue gelatin (blue raspberry or blueberry flavor)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka or rum (or juice for non-alcoholic)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve 1 package of red gelatin in 2 cups boiling water. Stir for 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Let cool for 10 minutes, then stir in ½ cup vodka or rum. Pour evenly into shot glasses or mold, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate 30-45 minutes until firm but tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle 1 package unflavored gelatin over 1 cup boiling water. Let bloom for 5 minutes, then stir until dissolved. Mix in sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup cold water or milk. Add ½ cup vodka or rum if desired. Cool to room temperature (~15 minutes). Pour carefully over red layer, filling another one-third. Refrigerate 30-45 minutes until set but tacky.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve 1 package blue gelatin in 2 cups boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Cool for 10 minutes, then add ½ cup vodka or rum. Pour gently over white layer, filling to top. Refrigerate at least 2 hours until fully set before serving.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing colors. Let each layer chill until just set but still tacky to help layers stick without bleeding. Alcohol should be about 20-25% of liquid volume to ensure proper setting. Shots are best served chilled within 24 hours and hold up to 48 hours refrigerated. Non-alcoholic versions can be made by substituting alcohol with juice or water.
